Confused about the difference between wireless headphones/earphones and True Wireless options?
You’ve come to the right place.
Ever since headphone jacks started to disappear from the popular smartphones, combined with the ease of Bluetooth connections, wireless headphones, whether they’re over ear, around ear or in-ear, have become very popular.
So, what’s the difference between wireless and True Wireless headphones?
With wireless headphones, while there are no cables connecting them to your phone or other device, there is usually a cable connection between the left and right earpieces, often incorporating a microphone (for phone calls) and volume control buttons. The connecting cable options vary from a loose wire that sits below your neck at the front, or behind your neck/head out of the way. Other options feature a more solid band that sits behind the neck or head, with the cables embedded.
True Wireless technology means there are NO cables. The two earpieces are independent and link directly to your phone or other device providing the source of the audio. Each earpiece includes a speaker and microphone. Controlling the volume, playing, pausing, accepting, rejecting, or initiating a phone call can all be done with the touch of a button built into the earphone, or via your digital assistant (Siri or Google Assistant) via voice commands.
Despite their size, True Wireless technology just keeps getting better and it seems to be accepted that there is no sound quality difference between wireless and True Wireless options. But there are some other differences that you might find appealing.
Best of all, you don’t have to spend a fortune to get your hands on a good quality set of True Wireless headphones. As technology improves, we tend to get more for less. Check out the very affordable Quantum Sonic True Wireless Earphones here.
